Coronavirus Updates

March 17, 2020

To Our Church Family:  Due to the current events that are changing daily in our City and in our world, our church schedule and local present events will be postponed, and our Sunday services will be streamed ONLINE only for this week of March 17-22nd.  The CDC's assembly ban of groups larger than 50 in attendance, and the President's urging to diminish all group meetings to less than 10 people have caused us to make this decision.  This decision includes our mid-week prayer service, all small groups meeting on our campus or at other locations, our weekly ESL classes, and our FOOD PANTRY, as well as the Mary Bennett Memorial service scheduled for Saturday, March 21st.  Our International Festival and Adopt-A-Missionary sign up will be postponed and scheduled for a future date.  We will assess our situation and update you this Sunday online as to future scheduled events and services.  We are developing options for small group studies and future worship services online in case we will need to continue these practices for some time.

As your pastor, I want to encourage you to do several things in an effort to BE THE CHURCH, God wants us to be.  We must remember that the church is not a building or property, but rather a called-out body of believers seeking to glorify God by ministering the gospel to those in their community and around the world!  We can DO THIS, even though our circumstances have changed.  Here are some things you and I can do....

  • First and foremost.... PRAY.  Our weekly prayer bulletin will be emailed every Wednesday so that you can join with us Wednesday evening at 7 pm from your home in prayer.  Pray all through the week for God's will, His protection, and His power to be on you and our church!  Pray for one another.  (if you would like to receive this email prayer bulletin weekly, please email your request to This email address is being protected from spambots. • Stay in contact with others.... your church family, small group, Bible study peers, brothers and sisters in Christ.  Via social media, phone, or text, please be proactive in staying connected.  We do not want Satan to use this pandemic as a tool to divide or distance God's people.
  • Minister to others.... whether they be church family or unrelated to our church... allow God  to use you to be a voice of hope, truth and encouragement to others.  I have had the privilege of hearing from so many of you already, testifying of opportunities God has given to you to minister!  This is what we are to do!
  • Join our services on line.... We are asking you to worship with us.  To remain faithful in giving your tithes/offerings/missions each week.  To engage in the sermon each week. We will seek to provide links for worship each week.  You may hear the message on our fb page or youtube channel.  You can give each week via our website or through the mail if needed.  Stay connected and do all you can to discipline yourself to stay connected as a church.... God has not changed although our circumstances have.  We need to stay rallied around Him during this time.
  • Give thanks.... we are told in everything to give thanks (1 Thess. 5:18).  Use this time to reflect on God's blessings in your life.  Use this time to connect with others and to spend with family.  We keep a right attitude when we give thanks!
We will have office hours throughout the week, and if we can be of help to you or anyone that you may know during this time, please contact us.  It is a difficult time right now with schooling issues, diminishing job opportunities, and sickness.  You are not alone.  You have a church family who will stand with you.

Please know that we are all working through this together...it is the first time for us all.  Your patience and prayers will be appreciated.  We are not the first "church" to experience difficulty and changes nor will we be the last.  I am confident that our great God can use all these things to accomplish His perfect plan and will in our lives personally and as a church.  May God help us to point people to Him during this time.  May God help us to deepen our faith in Him during this time.  Jesus reminds us in John 16:33, "these things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.  In the world ye shall have tribulation:  but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."  Be encouraged as we walk through this together.
